IOSH Managing safely CourseCourse Description This course is designed for managers of any discipline - those who wish to learn best practice in health and safety and manage safely and effectively, in compliance with health and safety legislation. The course will give you everything you need to comply with your health and safety obligations to both your staff and the law.
Course length = 4 day(s) ~ covering:-This course follows the content of the IOSH syllabus Introducing managing safelyUnderstanding the importance of health and safety as an essential part of the managerial role. This module makes it clear that you are accountable for your team, and makes a sound case for managing safely.Assessing risksA practical insight into effective risk assessments. Delegates will be shown how to utilise a simple scoring system to complete a series of assessmentsControlling risksOnce you have assessed risks, the next stage is to reduce them. This section of the course covers the best techniques to control key risks, and how to choose the most appropriate method.Understanding your responsibilitiesAs a manager, you need to be aware of the demands of the law and the workings of the legal system in relation to health and safety. This section will introduce you to a well-established health and safety management system.Identifying hazardsThis part of the course covers the main workplace hazards that can emerge in organisations. These are entrances and exits, work traffic, fire, chemicals, electricity, bullying, stress, noise, housekeeping, slips, trips and falls, working at height, computer hazards and manual handlingInvestigating accidents and incidentsThis section gives you best practice on investigation techniques when things go wrong.Measuring performanceThis module explains the link between checking performance and the improvement of health and safety. You will learn how to develop basic performance indicators, and get to grips with auditing and proactive and reactive measuring.Protecting our environmentHere you will gain a brief overview of waste, pollution and other environmental concerns, and examine methods of cutting down environmental impacts.Upon successful completion of the assessments delegates will be awarded an IOSH Managing Safely certificate, which IOSH recommends is renewed after two years. |
